They walked. They talked. They gazed at the view. They searched for the car racing in the Speed Classics race far below us on Philip Kgosana Road.

They skipped along. They skimmed stones across the water. They just had fun.

As we descended today on our last Sunday of October Solidarity walk against gender based violence, I turned to look at the young girl walking beside me. She had a smile. She said: "I have a stone". "A stone?", I asked. "Yes," she said, "As a memory."
