Get involved in Blocktober!
Blocktober is a humble but determined Cape Town-based movement of people against GBV, started in 2020.
Steps for Saartjie is the Blocktober blog: a record of our activities and fundraising in solidarity with survivors of gender-based violence and in support of the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children in Cape Town.
Every October we walk, run, ride and swim. You can join us in Cape Town and Nairobi or take part wherever you are.

Move with us. Stand with survivors. Help strengthen the work of the Saartjie Baartman Centre.
Please join us to walk, run, cycle or swim in October as an act of slow-burn solidarity
with survivors of GBV. In Cape Town the destination for many of these activities is the King’s Blockhouse on the slopes of Table Mountain, below.
Wherever your are, you could walk, run, ride or swim locally, in solidarity. If you want to join the challenge, you could do ascents equivalent to those above (300m
ascent) or swims (31 minutes or 31 laps). Over past Octobers the
Blocktober founder cyclists rode over 20km daily for 31 days, and climbing more than 2x the height of Everest.
